Bits and Pieces from Pastor Matt
LENT begins on Wednesday, March 5th and so I offer a Lenten Prayer: O God – guide us in our journey as we remember the story of the Israelites who wandered for forty years in the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt; guide us in our reflection as we remember the story of Jesus in the wilderness as he spent forty days discerning the will of God; guide us in efforts to be faithful servants as we remember the tradition of lent set before us by our ancestors in both our congregation and our denomination. Accomplish in us, O God, the work of your salvation, that we may show forth your glory. By the cross and passion of our Savior, bring us with all your saints to the joy of Christ’s Resurrection. Amen.
OUTREACH in March is a collection for Dupage PADS. All are invited to make a gift to St. John throughout the month with a designation that it is for PADS. From their website: Since 1985, DuPagePads has remained a beacon of hope for those with little or no support while experiencing homelessness. Now more than ever, our mission to end homelessness has become critical to the health and well-being of our community. The mission of DuPagePads is to end homelessness in DuPage County, Illinois. Our signature year-round programs feed and shelter individuals and families who are homeless, connect them to case management and other services that can address the underlying cause of their homelessness.
